Abstract:

The divorce and disintegration of the family center is a social problem, the consequences of which are the main problems of the present societies. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of trauma-based cognitive-behavioral therapy in the divorced womens’ post-divorce adjustment. the study was of a quasi-experimental type with pre-test, post-test and control group with 45-day follow-up. The statistical population of this study was absolute 49 women who referred to Mehravar consulting center located in Jamalzadeh, Iran during the period of October to November 2017. In this research, the purposeful sampling method was used. After the initial stages of evaluation, 30 of the 49 respondents who obtained the lowest mean score in the FADS Fisher Divorce Adjustment Scale (1976) score after adjustment were selected and randomly divided into two experimental groups 15 women) and control (15 women). The experimental group received weekly intervention in a group in 8 sessions of 90 minutes. Data were analyzed using repeated measure ANOVA. The findings showed a significant difference between the performance of the two experimental and control groups in the total score of post-divorce adjustment (P = 0.001, P = 0.001, P = 0.003) in post-test and follow up stages. The results show that intervention of traumatic cognitive-behavioral therapy leads to improvement of post-divorce adjustment in divorced women. Therefore, it is recommended that therapists use this therapeutic approach to improve reconciliation, interpersonal relationships, and the promotion of quality of life post-divorce in divorced women.
